The tradition's reading

What saju sees in 庚

Saju pictures 庚 as raw metal: ore, an axe, a blade not yet finished. It is the stem of autumn, the season of harvest and cutting back.

The tradition reads 庚 as courage, loyalty and a strong sense of fairness. It says what it thinks and stands by its friends. The caution is the edge: 庚 can cut people without meaning to.

Classical texts call 庚 the toughest of the ten. They say water makes it clear and fire makes it sharp, moist earth feeds it and dry earth makes it brittle. One line has a smile in it: 庚 beats big brother 甲 (the tree) but loses to little sister 乙 (the vine).

The gift

Your strength is courage. You say what needs saying, and you'll go to bat for the people you love.

The catch

Your challenge is your edge. A blade that's always drawn can hurt the people standing closest.

Strong or weak

Strong or weak, in plain words

Saju doesn't stop at which Day Master you are. It asks how much backing yours gets from the rest of the chart: characters of the same element, and of the element that feeds it. A lot reads as strong, a little as weak. Neither is better. They just want different things.

The birth month weighs most. A Yang Metal born in autumn (about Aug 8 to Oct 7) usually starts out strong, the earth months feeds it, and one born in summer (about May 6 to Jul 6) usually starts out weaker. The other pillars can change that.

A strong 庚

A strong 庚 is a sword in the hand. Decisive, brave and short on patience.

Saju forges a strong 庚 with fire (rules, responsibility) and lets it flow out through water (skills, words).

A weak 庚

A weak 庚 is a blade without a handle. Sharp ideas, not enough backing, easily dulled by criticism.

Saju supports a weak 庚 with earth (learning, protection) and metal (allies who stand with it).

How 2027 meets Raw Steel

Direct Officer 正官

Theme · Status

For 庚, 丁 is the fire that forges your metal, of the other polarity: the Direct Officer (正官, 정관). Saju reads it as a year of structure: titles, rules, responsibility and reputation. A forge flame on raw steel is the classic picture.

Fire is what shapes metal, so saju reads a fire year as one of structure: rules, pressure and responsibility.

The Goat (未) under 丁 carries three stems inside it, and saju reads each against you too: 己 earth is your Direct Resource, 丁 fire is your Direct Officer and 乙 wood is your Direct Wealth.

2027 month by month, for every Yang Metal

Each month starts at a solar term, dated here in Korea time; in the Americas a month can start the day before. The word is the month's theme for 庚. Which three months saju reads as open for you, and which two to take slowly, depends on your whole chart: the free episode marks them once you add your birth city.

Born in January or early February? When the year of the Goat starts depends on the calendar.

Questions

Yang Metal Day Master FAQ

Is Raw Steel the same as being born in a Metal year?

No. The Metal of a birth year is the year element most zodiac sites give. Your Day Master is the top character of your day pillar, so it comes from the day you were born. Someone born in a Metal year can have any of the ten Day Masters.

How do I know if I'm a Yang Metal Day Master?

Enter your birthday in the Day Master calculator. It reads the date at noon, which settles it for almost everyone. If you were born between 10 pm and 2 am, add your birth time and city, because true solar time can move a late-night birth into the next or previous day.

Is a Yang Metal Day Master strong or weak?

Either. It depends on the whole chart, and most of all on the birth month: saju reads Metal at its strongest in autumn (about Aug 8 to Oct 7) and at its lowest in summer (about May 6 to Jul 6). A strong 庚 likes outlets; a weak one likes support.

What does 2027 mean for a Yang Metal Day Master?

2027 is a 丁未 (Fire Goat) year. Its stem 丁 is the Direct Officer (正官) for 庚, which saju reads under the theme "Status". Which months are open or quiet for you depends on your whole chart.
