The tradition's reading

What saju sees in 壬

Saju pictures 壬 as big water: the ocean, a great river. It moves, it connects places, and it is hard to stop once it starts.

The tradition reads 壬 as vision, curiosity and a talent for bringing people and ideas together. The caution is the flood: plans and moods can rise fast and spill over.

Classical texts say 壬 flows everywhere without getting stuck, and that with enough support it can surge as high as the sky. Saju teachers add that big water needs banks: earth (戊) gives a river its course.

The gift

Your strength is vision. You think in big currents and connect people and places. Once you get moving, you're hard to stop.

The catch

Your challenge is the tide. Your moods and plans can swell and pull back before others catch up.

Strong or weak

Strong or weak, in plain words

Saju doesn't stop at which Day Master you are. It asks how much backing yours gets from the rest of the chart: characters of the same element, and of the element that feeds it. A lot reads as strong, a little as weak. Neither is better. They just want different things.

The birth month weighs most. A Yang Water born in winter (about Nov 7 to Jan 5) usually starts out strong, autumn feeds it, and one born in summer and the earth months usually starts out weaker. The other pillars can change that.

A strong 壬

A strong 壬 is a spring flood. Full of ideas, restless, carrying everything along.

Saju gives a strong 壬 banks and a direction: earth (structure), wood (projects to feed) and fire (goals to reach).

A weak 壬

A weak 壬 is a river in a dry year. Clever and adaptable, but short of reserves.

Saju refills a weak 壬 with metal (learning, mentors, the source) and water (friends and allies).

How 2027 meets The Ocean

Direct Wealth 正財

Theme · Money

For 壬, 丁 is the fire your water controls, of the other polarity: Direct Wealth (正財, 정재). Saju reads it as a year of steady effort and practical matters, the things you earn and look after. 丁 and 壬 are also one of the five stem pairs (丁壬合), which the tradition reads as a warm, binding link.

Fire is what water controls, so saju reads a fire year as one of results: money, effort and what it brings in.

The Goat (未) under 丁 carries three stems inside it, and saju reads each against you too: 己 earth is your Direct Officer, 丁 fire is your Direct Wealth and 乙 wood is your Hurting Officer.

2027 month by month, for every Yang Water

Each month starts at a solar term, dated here in Korea time; in the Americas a month can start the day before. The word is the month's theme for 壬. Which three months saju reads as open for you, and which two to take slowly, depends on your whole chart: the free episode marks them once you add your birth city.

Born in January or early February? When the year of the Goat starts depends on the calendar.

Questions

Yang Water Day Master FAQ

Is The Ocean the same as being born in a Water year?

No. The Water of a birth year is the year element most zodiac sites give. Your Day Master is the top character of your day pillar, so it comes from the day you were born. Someone born in a Water year can have any of the ten Day Masters.

How do I know if I'm a Yang Water Day Master?

Enter your birthday in the Day Master calculator. It reads the date at noon, which settles it for almost everyone. If you were born between 10 pm and 2 am, add your birth time and city, because true solar time can move a late-night birth into the next or previous day.

Is a Yang Water Day Master strong or weak?

Either. It depends on the whole chart, and most of all on the birth month: saju reads Water at its strongest in winter (about Nov 7 to Jan 5) and at its lowest in summer and the earth months. A strong 壬 likes outlets; a weak one likes support.

What does 2027 mean for a Yang Water Day Master?

2027 is a 丁未 (Fire Goat) year. Its stem 丁 is the Direct Wealth (正財) for 壬, which saju reads under the theme "Money". Which months are open or quiet for you depends on your whole chart.
