What saju sees in 己

Saju pictures 己 as garden soil: moist, fertile, worked by hand. Where 戊 is a mountain, 己 is a field, and things grow in it.

The tradition reads 己 as care, practical sense and a talent for helping things grow, from plants to people to projects. The caution is giving too much: a field that never rests runs dry.

Classical texts call 己 low, moist and good at storing. They say it doesn't fear a lot of wood or rough water, that it helps metal shine, and that to make things flourish it needs help: warmth (fire) and more earth.

Your strength is nurture. Ideas, people and projects do well in your care. Things just grow around you.

Your challenge is giving too much. A field that is never allowed to rest runs dry.

Saju doesn't stop at which Day Master you are. It asks how much backing yours gets from the rest of the chart: characters of the same element, and of the element that feeds it. A lot reads as strong, a little as weak. Neither is better. They just want different things.

Is Garden Soil the same as being born in a Earth year?

No. The Earth of a birth year is the year element most zodiac sites give. Your Day Master is the top character of your day pillar, so it comes from the day you were born. Someone born in a Earth year can have any of the ten Day Masters.

How do I know if I'm a Yin Earth Day Master?
